Sealing, Care & Longevity: Maintaining Natural Stone in Indian Climatic & Culinary Conditions
Natural stone is an organic material that breathes. While granite is inherently stain-resistant and Makrana marble gets brighter over time, improper cleaning with harsh acidic toilet cleaners (like hydrochloric acid) can etch the polish. With basic routine care, your stone surfaces will look brand new for decades.

1. Penetrating Hydrophobic & Oleophobic Sealers

Apply a solvent-based penetrating impregnating sealer right after installation. Unlike cheap wax coatings that peel, penetrating sealers sink into the microscopic pores of the stone, repelling mustard oil, turmeric stains, and red wine while allowing natural moisture vapors to escape.

2. Daily Cleaning Dos & Don’ts

Clean stone floors and countertops with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. Never use lemon, vinegar, or harsh bathroom descalers on marble, as acid immediately reacts with calcium carbonate to cause dull etch marks.

Architectural Takeaways & Buying Summary
  • Seal countertops annually with a penetrating food-safe impregnating sealer.
  • Wipe turmeric and lemon juice immediately with warm soapy water.
  • Never use acidic bathroom cleaners on natural marble or polished granite.
